Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026 · Applies to the Slate mobile app
The short version: Slate is a local-first app. Your debts, balances, APRs and payments are stored only on your device. We do not run a server that holds them, we cannot see them, and they are never uploaded, sold, or shared. There is no account and no login.

1. What we collect

Nothing personal. We do not ask for your name, email, phone, or address, and there are no user accounts. Slate never links to a bank, a card, a lender, or a credit bureau — you type in your numbers, and they live in your device's local storage.

2. Nicknames, not account numbers

Debts are labeled with nicknames you choose ("Visa ending 4412"). Slate never asks for, needs, or has anywhere to send an account number, a login, or a statement.

3. Purchases

If you unlock Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your card details; we only receive an anonymous confirmation that a purchase was made.

4. Analytics

Slate ships with no ads and no tracking SDKs. If any crash or usage analytics are ever enabled, they will be limited to anonymous, aggregate technical data (app version, crash stack) and will never include your debts or payments.

5. Your control

Because your data lives only on your device, you are always in full control: export a PDF or CSV at any time, or wipe everything with “Start fresh.” There is nothing for us to delete on your behalf because we never had it.
